20 from a 7yr old Zildjian Blank

The blank was around 7 years old and so was a little 'fixed' and reluctant to take on the changes from hammering and lathing.

Sometimes I'll leave a blank for a while to use this trait of becoming progressively more fixed to my advantage.

The progression was 3030g as an egg shaped blank, down to 2612g after being edged into a round disc, then 2300-ish after the first lathing and finally ending up at 2112g.

It was a flat blank and after working it into a flat ride and hearing how it sounded, I decided to hammer a small bell into it to give the final cymbal more spread, volume and life.

The video pretty much speaks for itself and gives a sonic picture of each of the stages.
